Call for Workshops and Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions

The deadline for workshop and BoF submissions is 14 January 2008.

The WICSA conference has always aimed to encourage discussion of all topics related to software architecture and particularly to allow researchers and practitioners to get together in a constructive environment to exchange ideas and experiences. As part of this, WICSA 2008 is a great opportunity to organise a Workshop or a Birds of a Feather (BoF) session to allow discussion of subjects not on the main programme or further discussion of those that are.

Workshops typically provide a structured half day or full day setting where participants have the opportunity to discuss specific technical topics in an atmosphere that fosters the active exchange of ideas. Workshops can be organised on subjects relating to any aspect of software architecture research and practice. Workshops that aim to attract a mixed audience of researchers and practitioners are particularly welcome.

Workshops will be scheduled Monday, 18 February and Friday, 22 February and can run from 09:30 – 12:30 (a half day) or from 09:30 – 17:00 (a full day).

A BoF session is a short informal forum for discussions related to any aspect of software architecture. Attendees who want to get together with others who share their interests, goals, technologies, environments, or backgrounds are invited to organise and attend a BoF session. BoFs can be proposed and advertised before the conference or can be convened at the conference when the need for one is recognised. BoFs can be used to continue a discussion that began in another session, for a group to get together to pursue a common interest or just to discuss a range of opinions around a topic.

To propose a workshop or a BoF, please contact the programme chairs (David Garlan and Eoin Woods). We will liaise with the conference organisers on your behalf to allocate a suitable room for the session and will also arrange for it to be listed on the conference web site.
