Weekly Status OF P1016 WG - 2 Novermber 2001

Note: I want to take this opportunity to thank the working group on the excellent effort to prepare the PAR and Project Plan for SESC. The P1016 Working Group was formed 1 October 2001 and by 1 November 2001 we submitted these deliverables. This required a great deal of effort and coordination on the part of the individuals in the group. Thank You.

Item 1. P1016 PAR Approval - The PAR for P1016 was resubmitted to the SESC Executive Committee on November 1, 2001. The Executive Committee will meet next week 7 November on the P1016 PAR. Anticipating SESC approval, then the PAR will be considered by NesCom at their March 2002 meeting. Work on the draft standard can proceed without NesCom approval of the PAR.

Item 2. Project Plan - The Project Plan for P1016 was submitted to the SESC Executive Committee on November 1, 2001. The Executive Committee will meet next week 7 November on the P1016 Project Plan. SESC EXCOM approval is anticipated. Comments were received from Management Board Members as well as Working Group Members prior to incorporation into the revised project plan and the submission of the project plan to the SESC Executive Committee.

Item 3. First draft of P1016 - The focus of the group has now shifted to the draft standard. The meeting in Detroit is to define the baseline scope, stakeholders, and expectations and is scheduled for November 18-19, 2001. Myself, Rich, Dr J and Judy have confirmed; Ted, Kathy and Joaquin have declined; Jim and Philippe are outstanding. Video Conferencing is available for those of you that are so inclined. Judy is our first subscriber from Hewlett-Packard in California. The meeting agenda is under development and will be finalized shortly.

Item 4. Organization - Based on technical requirements delineated by Dr J, a call for participants went out to the AWG interest group. We have had two responses requesting participation: 1) Philippe Kruchten, Ph.D., P.Eng., Rational Software Canada and 2) Ira S. Sachs, High Performance Technologies, Inc., Virginia. Ira is seeking management support and will notify us by the 18-19 November meeting regarding his participation in the group.

Item 5. See our website. The website was recently updated to include archives of the weekly status reports and an updated baseline documents list.
